iCeL History
The journey of iCeL Systems, Inc. was initiated in 2001 by former President of Hyundai Electronics and early consultant to Intel, Chaz Haba. Mr. Haba was at the forefront of the electronics industry since the earliest days of the semiconductor and had helped to evangelize the very first integrated circuits. Through his early experience in electronics, he soon realized that energy storage was going to be as much core technology in the future as the semiconductor had already become. Haba eventually patented the “compound interconnect” in 2002.Chaz was busy building integrated energy storage for electric vehicles in 2004, when he was introduced to Bill Sechrest as a potential consultant. With his extensive legal background and knowledge of the tech industry, Sechrest soon became chief strategic and structural advisor to the company. iCeL Systems, Inc. legally formed in 2005 and expanded beyond the world of EV’s to include portable applications as well as intelligent energy storage devices for commercial and residential buildings. In the Spring of 2008, Dr. Ryan Wartena joined iCeL as Chief Technology Officer, bringing with him over a decade of knowledge in cell development and electroanalytical chemical engineering from MIT, Georgia Tech, UC San Diego, and the U.S. Naval Research Lab in Washington, D.C. Through the diligent and visionary efforts of the entire iCeL team over the last decade, iCeL Systems, Inc. has provided cutting edge energy solutions for municipal, automotive, residential, medical, military, and film industry applications.
iCeL is currently expanding its network of energy labs and municipal partnerships, while planning the construction of its large scale manufacturing plants. As the world begins to understand the absolute necessity of distributed renewable energy systems, iCeL is quickly being defined as one of the great innovative forces in 21st Century energy technology.
